Windular Research and Technologies Inc. Receives Order to Implement Wind Systems in Southern Chile

October 24, 2016

Windular Research and Technologies Inc., based in Ontario, Canada, has partnered with AJ Ingenieros based in Santigo, Chile to supply and install two 10 KW Smart Tracking wind systems on two towers located near Cape Horn, South America. The client, Telefonica, has been seeking a solution to the current costly diesel power system.

The Windular system provides state-of-the-art Smart Tracking wind turbines that will dramatically reduce or eliminate the requirement for the diesel generator. The towers are located near Cape Horn, where the wind resources are extreme. The Windular technology allows the 10 KW wind turbines to both optimize the renewable resource but also protect the turbine from damaging winds.

AJ Ingenieros is the leading provider of telecom towers and power solutions in Chile. The two systems are scheduled for implementation and commissioning in early Q1-2017.

“South America represents a strategic market where many telecoms are seeking a viable wind and/or solar solution to the multitude of remote towers that are heavily reliant on diesel power source. The objective to reduce carbon footprint and diesel operational costs is the cornerstone to the success Windular will have in this geographical marketplace”, says Jerry Foster, Vice President of Windular Research and Technologies Inc.
